What the? Seattle? You have my sympathies. Lived there for 5.5 years. As you will soon find out, the weather there is cloudy, rainy, cloudy, rainy, cloudy, rainy, to no end. The people there are super liberal, like San Fran people. Believe it or not, but when I used to live there I saw a “Gay Pride Parade”! It’s a yearly thing there. On the pro side, Seattle has good coffee and it is a city so it’s a bigger scene from little Guam. Overall, Seattle is a major step down from Guam but things could be worse. Count your blessings. Been there (Seattle), done that (Seattle life).

I hope you guys didn’t eat dog!

You know how the Koreans kill it do you?

They beat the dog to death!!

It is believed that when a dog is in flight and pain right before its death it makes the meat more tastier.

So dogs are killed in Korea that way!!

It’s a disgusting and barbarbic practice, but it’s their culture, though the younger generation is starting to adopt Western values of kindess to animals and killing animals in a humane way and so fewer younger Koreans eat dog thesedays.

DO NOT EAT DOG IN KOREA, EVER!!

Hey Gwen and Wally,
I have occasionally checked out your site and always enjoyed reading about your adventures. You all have taken advantage of a unique opportunity and made the best of it with your family Good job!
All the Pankanins are doing well in beautiful Blahvue. Twins are 15, Kevin is 17 and Sean is a sophomore at UW. Send me a email when you get back to town. I’ll be happy to treat for a Korean dinner, or an American burger if you prefer.

Hi Wally and Gwen! I have been meaning to “write” for ages. Wally, have you found something at Region 10? I meant to tell you that I don’t really know anyone there but a good friend is now the deputy office director for OUST here (Carolyn Hoskinson) and she said anytime you want to work here, let her know! Or maybe you could recommend someone in your office to come here and you could have their position. They need rulewriters!

I do love checking in with you guys now and then on your blog, seeing the pictures, and reading about your travels. Hope everything goes well your last month or so and you have a safe trip home. Be sure to give us a call if/when you come to visit DC!

Hey,
I had a dream about you guys last night. We (especialy Peter!) are so excited you will return to U-Coop. I had never checked out your blog before. It’s awesome. I imagine it will be hard to leave paradise. It’s rainy and gloomy here. When will you return? Would Davis want to play on the soccer team next fall that Pierre coaches (Peter, Dylan, Elliot, Marcus and Ben Falip are on it). Now is the time to sign up. I can send you the info if you send me your address? Anyway, just wanted to say we are so happy Davis will be at U-Coop next year and your fine family will again be part of our school. We miss you all.

Hi there. Encountered Peter Neves email with a link to your blog while scrolling through my archives. Wow, what a great way to memorialize your IPA w/the Guam EPA! You all look great and the experience (at least the highlights) appear unforgettably incredible.

Although the weather doesn’t feel like it, baseball season has returned for me and DC. Unlike last year (felt like I couldn’t do more than manage Jonathan’s 11U teams), I have decided that I CAN do it all:

– pitch for my 18+ baseball team (see http://www.eteamz.com/firsthorizonblues/ for updates as season progresses),
– manage both of Jonathan’s baseball teams (tournament and house league), and
– manage my EPA softball team — ORD’s “Buns ‘n’ Burners” (we won the last EPA Softball League Championship).

Now the only question . . . whether I’ll survive

Drop a line if/when you return to the states, especially if you’ll be visiting VA. In the meantime, best wishes to all. ~~~ Jace
